DM Bootcamp 2023
Session 3: How is a Dungeon Master Different from Players
Join our DM Bootcamp’s Session 3 to explore the key differences between the role of a Dungeon Master and that of a player in Dungeons & Dragons.
What is the Role of a Dungeon Master?
The Dungeon Master is the architect of the game world, responsible for creating and narrating the story, designing the challenges, and controlling the non-player characters and creatures that populate it. They set the stage for the players to immerse themselves in an epic adventure.
How is a Dungeon Master Different from Players?
While players focus on creating and playing a character, the Dungeon Master must take on multiple roles, including narrator, referee, and adversary. They must anticipate and react to the choices of the players, manage the game mechanics, and maintain the balance between challenge and reward. The Dungeon Master also creates the world and the storyline, while the players explore and shape it through their actions and decisions.
