What are State Championships?
State Championships are Tier 3 tournaments in which Duelists compete to earn invites to the 2023 WCQ: European Championship, along with exclusive prizes.
Who can participate in a State Championship tournament?
State Championships are open events that require no prior qualification.
- State Championships are open to all Duelists whether they are a resident in that country or not.
- State Championships are open to Duelists who already hold an invitation to the WCQ: European Championship.
- Duelists who are suspended from official Yu-Gi-Oh! Organized Play cannot participate in State Championships, attend the venue, or apply to staff the event.
- Duelists may participate in any State Championship of their choice; however, a Duelist may only participate in ONE State Championship per year.

The Tournament will be run as a Swiss Round Event, with Single-Elimination Playoff Rounds (Top Cut).
Each Swiss Round will consist of a best 2-out-of-3 game Match, with a 45-minute time limit.
Each Single-Elimination Playoff Round (Top Cut) will consist of a best 2-out-of-3 game Match, with a 55-minute time limit.
Decks must be constructed according to the latest Advanced Format guidelines. Please check the “Limited and Forbidden Cards” page (https://www.yugioh-card.com/eu/play/forbidden-and-limited-list/) for more information.
Deck Lists are mandatory.
Registration:
Preregistration via our online tickets is highly recommended – this will help to speed up the Registration process, so that we can start promptly on the day.
Walk-ins will be accommodated on a first-come-first-served basis.
Preregistration closes on Wednesday, 24 May 2023.

- Copy of your ID, Passport (preferred), Driver’s License, or similar. **
- Proof of Payment.
This will also help to speed up the Registration process, so that we can start promptly.
A physical copy of your Deck List, and form of identification can be submitted on the day of the Event, should you not be able to email it in by 24 May 2023.
* Deck Lists can be submitted using either the ‘Save List’ function in the Neuron App, and then emailed to info@ai-fest.co.za, or the Official Deck List Form linked below.
** To Register Duelists must provide a form of legal identification – a copy of your Passport, ID, School ID, Driver’s License, or similar.

- Confirmations will be emailed out to all applicants by latest, Thursday, 11 May 2023 – this gives you the opportunity to still pre-register to play at the Event, should you not be chosen to be a Judge.
