Icons 2027 Edition is Star Wars: Unlimited turning the museum lights on: Darth Vader, Leia Organa, fan-favourite characters, straightforward mechanics and a mini-set designed to make the game easier to enter without making it feel disposable.
What is being released
The official product page lists Icons 2027 Edition as releasing on 20 November 2026. It is the first Icons set for Star Wars: Unlimited and contains over 190 cards. The set is described as a condensed, focused experience with fan-favourite characters and straightforward mechanics.
Why this release is significant
The significant new product is the Starter Box: two pre-built 30-card decks led by Darth Vader and Leia Organa, plus preset non-randomised deckbuilding packs that guide players through upgrading between games before rewarding them with Icons booster packs. The mini-set also includes booster packs, a booster 4-pack with an exclusive Cassian Andor variant card and a lower price point than standard set boosters.
Competitive gameplay impact
Competitively, Icons is important because accessibility and legality meet. The official first-look notes that cards from Icons are Premier-legal on launch and remain legal until rotating alongside A Lawless Time, Ashes of the Empire and Homeworlds in March 2028. That means this is not only a starter-friendly product; it can still matter to players testing real lists.
Collector value and exclusivity
The exclusive hook is the Cassian Andor variant in the booster 4-pack, plus the mini-set’s icon-driven character focus. It works as an entry product, a collector product and a competitive talking point in one neat package.
Why players should care
Icons is the most approachable way into Star Wars: Unlimited. Familiar heroes and villains, simple mechanics and a contained card pool mean you can learn the game without being overwhelmed. Experienced players get a handy set of characters to slot into existing decks, and new players get a clear starting point.
